Reset My Password

Summary

If you recently changed your district password or your password expired, you may find that printing suddenly stops working. This is because Windows saved your old password when you first connected to the printer.
To fix this, you need to update your district password, which will allow your computer to re-authenticate to the printers.

Symptoms

You may notice one or more of the following:

  • Jobs are stuck in the print queue and do not print.
  • You receive a message asking for credentials, but they don’t work.
  • You get “Access Denied,” “Printer unavailable,” or similar error messages.
  • Printing worked yesterday, but not today.

Cause

Windows stores your username and password when you connect to a network printer.
When your password changes, the stored password becomes invalid.
Your computer continues trying the old password, and printing fails.

How to Fix

1. Update Your Password

If you haven’t already updated your password, do so here:

Change Password: Click here to change it -->

Make sure you are connected to the district network.

2. Re-Sign Into Your Computer

After changing your password, sign out of your computer and sign back in using your new password.

  • Click Start → Profile Icon → Sign Out
  • Sign in again with your new password

This refreshes your credentials across Office, Teams, OneDrive, printers, etc.

3. Try Printing Again

Print a test page.
If it prints — you're all set.

If it still fails → continue below.

4. Clear Old Printer Credentials (if needed)

  1. Press Windows Key + R
  2. Type: control keymgr.dll
  3. Press Enter
  4. Look for any entries containing:
    • Your district username or email
    • Printer server names (ex: \\printserver or a printer name)

  5. Select the entries and Remove
  6. Try printing again — you may be prompted to enter your password.
Enter your current district password and check “Remember my credentials.”
